The Department of Energy (DOE) is pleased to announce the successful conduct of the 3rd Green Energy Auction (GEA-3) in the Philippines, with an offered capacity of 7,500 megawatts (MW), exceeding the installation target of 4,650 MW. While lithium batteries grab headlines, these water-based systems provide 94% of the world's grid-scale energy storage capacity. JEA provides electric, water and sewer services in parts of Clay, Duval, Nassau and St Johns counties. Results on current projects out for bid can be found here as well as bid award information for past projects. In December 2021, CEC signed an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract with Sinohydro to expand the solar farm by 33 extra MW over the next 12 months.
