PetroChina, the country’s biggest oil producer, is to develop a wind and solar-based green hydrogen plant in Qinghai province in northwest China with 1 gigawatt of installed capacity. As China’s national decarbonization strategy gains momentum, PetroChina is emerging as a leader in green development. The "Plan" includes a list of a series of key projects in Qinghai Province in 2024, including photovoltaic, wind power, hydropower, thermal power, and energy storage. China’s largest onshore oil and gas operator PetroChina has won government approval to build a major solar-to-hydrogen project in the country’s northwest China’s Gansu province, the first of many such projects to be constructed at the company’s existing domestic onshore fields.
