The use of vanadium in the battery energy storage sector is expected to experience disruptive growththis decade on the back of unprecedented vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) deployments. The project integrates a distributed photovoltaic (PV) power generation system with a vanadium flow battery storage system, using advanced control technologies to store surplus solar energy, which is later used for off-peak power supply and charging electric vehicles. The paper proposes a novel planning approach for optimal sizing of standalone photovoltaic-wind-diesel-battery power supply for mobile telephony base stations.
