Introduction

EU-SOLARIS is a project, co-funded by the 7th Framework Programme of the European Union that aims to carry out the preparatory work needed for the creation of a large distributed Research Infrastructure (RI) of European character and global reach. The JRC's European Solar Test Installation carries out research on reliable and accurate measurements for photovoltaic devices and supports the EU in meeting its targets for renewable energy. The main purpose of this RI is to foster, contribute to, and promote the scientific and technological development of Concentrating Solar Thermal (CST) and Solar Chemistry (SCH). Opportunities for synergy with IEA SHC can be found beyond R&D in activities such as disseminating CST technologies, applications and the value of training young researchers and pr.
