Solar projects typically have a lifespan of 30 years or more before they begin to approach the end of their lifespan and need to be decommissioned. Current assumptions range from 25 years to more than 35 years depending on the of ~$35/kWDC-yr for projects built in 2007 to an average of ~$17/kWDC-yr in 2019. With the world moving increasingly towards renewable energy, Solar Photovoltaic Container Systems are an efficient and scalable means of decentralized power generation. Solar panels must be cleaned every 3–6 months to prevent dust-induced power loss, while Lithium (LiFePO4) batteries typically require replacement every 8–10 years.
