Introduction
Historically, solar capacity in terms of cumulative installed photovoltaic power in Iraq reached an all time high of 216 MW in 2018 and an all time low of 30. In July 2019, Iraq's Ministry of Electricity invited independent power producers to participate in developing seven PV solar power sites with a combined capacity of 755 megawatts (MW) in the range between 30 MW to 300 MW. A report from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory found that solar power accounted for 54% of new U. 8 GW with over 181 GW of this capacity being attributed to pumped hydro storage systems.
