GenVision, Tatanga Energy, and local Zambian developer AMDG Energy have partnered to develop a 300 MW solar power plant, coupled with a substantial 800 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), in the nation’s Copperbelt region. In terms of the contribution from renewables to electricity generation, about 93% of the renewable component is from hydro, and 6% from solar. Zambia is making significant strides in diversifying its energy portfolio, launching ambitious initiatives to harness its abundant solar resources.
